Placement issues...
As part of our MA we are required to carry out a placement in an institution that aids or research or production skills. I applied for a place in the neurological research department of Beaumont Hospital or to spend time in a second level school in discussion with a group of a ‘younger generation’. Beaumont has since declined, leaving me with the option of the school.

Notes so far: the longer you stare at the colour white, the less white it becomes.

Your Dublin
“Hello! Open Me”
20 Disposable cameras were placed around Dublin in a stamped addressed envelope. The note on the envelope invited the public to use the camera to show us ‘their Dublin’ and then post these cameras back.
These photos were then available to see on ‘YourDublin.wordpress.com‘.

This channeled my train of thought into examining the present in a critical manner and possibly attempting to predict the cultural identities and social processes of ‘Generation...

WE ARE GENERATION 'Z'
I predict Generation ‘Z’…will be less emotional, more sensitive, unresponsive to the ‘small things in life’, will not comprehend time as a factor in completing a task, will lose the ability to express through word, (handwritten word that is..), learning pattern will take an entirely new form, their construct of knowledge and it’s reality will be questioned,...

that the biggest challenges facing the modern world are technology and terrorism. Why is technology a challenge? Surely to the average generation-y’er it’s nothing but an aid in day to day living?

I was in The Lab on Culture Night last week and and saw this work, only to walk in to a lecture today to find the artist was my lecturer. Found this work very interesting as it tied in well with my thesis, ‘Privacy For Sale’ with regards the manipulation and corruption of data by individuals.
